Aveyron boasts over 900 km hiking trails that are part of the “GR® Sentier de Grande Randonnée”- network (greatest long distance hiking trails of France), and more than 4000 kms of shorter paths for day-walks. Visitors can fully enjoy the wide-open spaces.

Outdoor water activities!

Aveyron is a land of many rivers and lakes and offers fantastic water-sports possibilities. At the Pareloup lake, a veritable inland sea situated in the heart of de Grands Causse Natural Park, you can sail a catamaran or dinghy. 
White-water activities such as canoeing, kayaking, or water hiking can be enjoyed throughout the year in the Gorges of the Tarn and the Dourbie rivers, and in the lush valleys of the Lot or the Aveyron. 
The wealth and diversity of waterways make Aveyron an attractive place for fishing enthusiasts who show up every year ready for the challenge of catching predatory fish or carp. 

Sky-high nature activities 

Exceptional air currents can be found in Aveyron around the cliffs that border the Larzac plateau above the Tarn valley. In consequence, Aveyron is a haven for paragliding and hand-gliding lovers. Icarus’ dream here is available to all, with a magnificent view to boot on the unique Millau viaduct. 
World-famous as one of the birthplaces of handgliding, Millau is the perfect place to enjoy flying solo or together with a professional pilot. 

Nature activities at the tip of the fingers

Aveyron is home to grandiose rock-climbing sites. Looking for an easier, ideal first encounter with the sport? How about a 100 metres climb followed by an abseiling descent under the magical gaze of the large Eurasian griffon vultures!
Fun and out of the ordinary, the via ferrata have made their mark on the rocks of Aveyron, and families are increasingly choosing this nature activity to discover the local mountains. Aveyron is home to three via ferrata itineraries ranked among the top twenty most beautiful in France by specialist websites : Le Boffi, Liaucous and Baltuergues.
